Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she dropped her first mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 Ari Lennox released her own single Bound and her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. In July of 2015, Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. The following year, her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 21, 2016, the artist released her debut album called Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter guested on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream of the album was released on September 5, 2018 with a music video. In November, she released her singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November, 13 she dropped two more singles entitled No One or Pdigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019, to accompany her debut album with the same name. In February 2019, the music video for this track was launched. The song has received over three million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
